Ngorongoro Conservation

Embark on an unforgettable day trip into the heart of Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife haven. After an early morning pick-up in Arusha or Moshi, enjoy a scenic 3–4 hour drive through rural landscapes to the Ngorongoro Crater—an immense, unbroken volcanic caldera and UNESCO World Heritage Site approximately 260 km² in size.

Stop at the crater rim for breathtaking views before descending into the caldera floor to begin your guided game drive. Here, animals roam freely in a natural amphitheater of forests, grasslands, swamps, and soda lakes. Expect sightings of the Big Five—lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and endangered black rhinos—as well as other wildlife like zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, jackals, and flamingos.

Around midday, enjoy a picnic lunch at the Ngorongoro crater picnic site, often located near a hippo pool, before continuing your wildlife exploration into the afternoon.
